The Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) is a national standard on sustainability (3Ps – People. Planet & Profit) which covers the areas of operations of the oil palm industry along the whole supply chain comprising seed production, nursery, estate, smallholdings, mill, kernel crushing, refinery, storage, transport, distribution, and management system development and operations.
International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) is a globally leading certification system covering the entire supply chain and all kinds of bio-based feed stocks and renewables. ISCC is officially recognized by the European Commission under the European Energy Directive (RED).
Halal Certification provides assurance to all Muslim consumers because it fulfils the Syariah law, which is a must for Muslims. To the non-Muslims, Halal products are quality products, simply due to the concept of halalan thoyyiban (Halal and wholesome) as it is strongly advised that all Halal certification applicants to comply with GMP and HACCP requirements. Thus, products certified Halal by JAKIM are Halal products which are safe to consume or use, nutritious and with quality.
Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab lndustri (MeSTI) or the “Food Safety is the Responsible of the Industry”, is a food safety programme undertaken by the Ministry of Health (MOH). MeSTl Certification Scheme is the result of improvements of Skim Keselematan Makanan 1Malaysia (SK1M) to facilitate food enterprises especially the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to meet the requirements provided for under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009. The objective of MeSTl is to put in place a system for the maintenance of food hygiene and process control which includes food safety assurance and food traceability.
ISO 9001 is a standard that sets out the requirements for a for a Quality Management System (QMS). It helps business and organizations to continually monitor and manage quality across all operations and to be more efficient and improve customer satisfaction. Risk-based thinking, PDCA (Plan, Do, Check & Act) and the Process Approach are 3 concepts together form an integral part of the lSO 9001 standard.
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is system to ensure products are manufactured to meet certain quality and safety requirement. It contains procedures to describes methods, equipment, facilities and controls for all manufactured goods. It is a prerequisite program (PRP) for HACCP & ISO 22000.
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product. In this manner, HACCP is referred as the prevention of hazards rather than finished product inspection.
ISO 22000 is a standard that sets out the requirements for a Food Safety Management System (FSMS) covering all supplies within the food supply chain. 4 key elements in ISO 22000 are Interactive Communication, System Management, Prerequisite Programs & HACCP.
GMP+ Feed Certification is a scheme focused on controlling feed safety and responsibility. GMP+B2 is a feed safety assurance specifically for the production of feed ingredients (feed materials & additives) including their storage, trading and transportation of feed products.
MPOB Codes of Practice (CoPs)
is a system tool for food safety, quality assurance & sustainability for the whole oil palm supply chain:
- CoP for oil palm nurseries
- CoP for oil palm estates and smallholdings
- CoP for palm oil mills
- CoP for palm kernel cruehers
- CoP for palm oil refineries
- CoP for the handling, transport and storage of products from the oil palm
- CoP for bulking facilities of palm oil and palm kernel oil and their products
The Kosher certification certifies that products produced are ritually fit for use in accordance with Jewish Law including cleanliness, purity and quality. To be certified Kosher all ingredients in every product-and the process of preparing the product-must be certified for kosher-compliance too. An industrial Kosher certification provides an economic advantage, a serious method of traceability, a response to problems of globalization, and at the same time a guarantee of food safety.
